Latest School Shooting Continues America’s Tragic Trend
To our colleagues at UCLA and schools where gun violence has taken place, we extend our heartfelt condolences.
The shooting at UCLA on June 1 marks the 182nd school shooting in the United States since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where Adam Lanza killed 20 children and six adults in December 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut. Since then, the United States has experienced a rate of one fatal school shooting every 22 days, as represented here in an infographic from the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work.
